After more than three hours, a standoff ends in Norman Friday night.

Norman Police responded to a call to get to 128 Crystal Court a little after 6 p.m. Friday. They say several family members were inside the home and one man was intoxicated.

When police arrived, that man confronted them and fired shots with a high-powered rifle. That sent everyone scattering.

A SWAT team was then called to the scene.

All of the family members got out of the home safely.

But police say the man then barricaded himself in the home and was in possession of several firearms.

Around 9:20 p.m., police forced their way inside the home and took the suspect into custody without incident.

No one was hurt during the incident.

The suspect identified as Richard Watson, 33, was transported to Norman Regional Hospital for medical clearance. Afterward, Watson was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of using a weapon in the commission of a felony, shooting with intent to kill, carrying a firearm while under the influence and child neglect.
