Crackly Frosted Sugar Cookies

2 sticks unsalted butter (room temperature)

3/4 cup canola oil

1 1/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoon milk

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla paste

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

ADD

1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter

5 - 5 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Using an electric mixer beat together the butter, oil, sugar, powdered sugar, milk, eggs and vanilla paste until it is creamy. In a medium sized bowl combine the dry ingredients. Turn the mixer on low and slowly add the dry ingredients and mix till cookie dough is formed.

In a small bowl combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon fine sea salt. Roll dough into 1/3 cup balls. Using the bottom of a glass, dip the glass into sugar and then flatten the cookie. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a baking rack.

Sour Cream Vanilla Frosting

1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

3/4 cup sour cream

2 pounds powdered sugar

1/4 cup milk

1 tablespoon vanilla paste

In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat together the butter and sour cream. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Slowly add the milk till the frosting is thick yet easy to spread.
