The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a motorcyclist was racing with a friend when he crashed into another car and was killed.

Just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, OHP troopers responded to the crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at N.E. 23rd Street in Oklahoma City.

According to the OHP, 38-year-old Omar Shareef Mahmoud of Midwest City, was racing with a friend on their motorcycles on the highway at high rates of speed. Mahmoud attempted to go around a 2010 Dodge Challenger without applying his brakes. That's when his motorcycle struck the rear of the Challenger.
