My 2 Cents: One Year Later In Ferguson, Missouri

Apparently, some people in Ferguson, Missouri, didn't learn anything over the last year since the St. Louis suburb erupted into chaos following the police shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Apparently, some people in Ferguson, Missouri, didn't learn anything over the last year since the St. Louis suburb erupted into chaos following the police shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Yesterday was exactly one year since Brown was shot and killed during a confrontation with a police officer, and a peaceful protest Sunday night spun out of control when gun shots rang out.

Two groups were shooting at each other, but when an unmarked vehicle pulled up to the scene, an 18-year-old wheeled around and fired on it. Four detectives hopped out and shot the suspect, critically wounding him.

Of course, protesters are blaming the police because they were in plain clothes, not wearing uniforms nor driving a marked car. The suspect didn't know they were officers and might shoot back at him. That's how twisted this has gotten.

The suspect's father insists his son didn't have a gun, police say they found one in the vehicle he tried to flee in. It all sounds vaguely familiar.

Protesters are out again tonight in Ferguson. Some are covering their faces. There's a state of emergency in Ferguson, but no curfew. No police in riot gear visible. Hopefully they learned from the rioting and destruction and looting of last year, but we'll see.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
