Edmond police arrested a man accused of leading officers on a pursuit and then crashing his vehicle into a traffic pole on Sunday.

According to Edmond police, an officer attempted to pull over a blue pickup for a traffic stop near 1300 S. Broadway. The driver quickly changed lanes and accelerated in an attempt to elude. That’s when the police chase began.

The officer pursued the pickup northbound on Broadway.  At 2nd Street, police said the pickup entered oncoming traffic and ran the light at 2nd and Broadway, striking a 16-year-old motorist.

According to police, the pickup then crashed into a traffic pole.  The suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Nathan Sean Green, was nearly thrown through the windshield.  During the collision, Green suffered several cuts and a possible facial fracture.

Green was transported to OU Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.  Once released, he was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of eluding a police officer and unauthorized use of a vehicle.  Green also had an outstanding warrant out of Le Flore County with a $47,000 bond.
