An Oklahoma City police officer and a citizen are being praised for their quick actions, when they saved a young boy who nearly drowned at a swimming pool Thursday evening.
According to police, at about 6 p.m., officers responded to the report of a drowning child in the 3300 block of N.W. 36th Street. A 3-year-old boy was found at the bottom of a swimming pool.
Police said a family friend, whose name was not released, pulled the child from the pool and began CPR as police arrived. The child wasn’t breathing and had no pulse.
Officer Steven Cholity assisted with CPR until the child began coughing and crying. The officer then rolled the boy onto his side so he could expel the water that he had taken in.
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital, where he is expected to recover, according to police.
