OKLAHOMA CITY -

A home on the southwest side of the metro was destroyed in a fire, Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the home, located in the 3500 block of SW 22nd St. just to the east of S. Portland Ave., around 4:40 p.m. Once on scene firefighters reported seeing thick black smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the house.

It is unclear how the fire was started or if anyone was home at the time.

A preliminary damage estimate has not yet been made, but the home is expected to be a total loss.
