Motorcycle Ride In Honor Of 11-Year-Old Cancer Patient

It was the surprise of a lifetime today for an 11-year-old girl diagnosed with a brain tumor. Katie McGann is in Oklahoma for proton therapy and got a motorcycle rally and ride in her honor.

The sight of more than 50 Harley's surrounding the ProCure facility had the 11-year-old Manchester girl squealing in excitement.

“I didn't have a clue, but when they said that sounds like thunder I definitely knew that wasn't thunder,” said Katie McGann.

Generations apart Katie McGann and Gary Edminster share a love for the roar of a Harley. Gary wanted to give his treatment buddy one last surprise before she returned to the United Kingdom.

“Soon as I heard Harley come out of Gary’s mouth, ah yeah you're my new best friend,” she said.

The two would see each other as Katie finished her treatments and Gary's were about to begin.

“That little girl, I mean she is upbeat all the time,” said Edminster.

“They had a bond there. They were both going through it. They both could get on about it, treatment buddies!” said Katie’s mother, Marie McGann.

For the past two months, Katie and Gary have cheered each other on throughout the process.

Katie receiving proton therapy for a brain tumor, Gary's for his prostate cancer. The two became inseparable.

“I could talk to Gary like, cause he knew what I meant when I said oh well the treatment this that and this,” said Katie.

With the help of his sons, Gary gave Katie a graduation present and ride she'll never forget.

Katie's last treatment will be on Monday then, next Wednesday she'll head back home to the UK. Katie rode with the group from the ProCure Therapy Center in NW OKC all the way to the Fort Thunder Harley Davidson dealership in Moore.
