Peter Toth scored the first USL goal of his career and Sebastian Dalgaard added his fourth goal of the season as OKC Energy FC won its second straight match, 2-0 over LA Galaxy II Tuesday night at Taft Stadium. OKC keeper Evan Newton recorded a third straight shutout, his seventh of the season.

The win gave OKC 34 standings points and moved the club into sole possession of fourth place in the USL’s Western Conference, one point ahead of fifth-place Sacramento and one point behind third-place Colorado Springs. OKC is unbeaten in its last six games.

Energy FC took an early lead, scoring a first half goal for the first time in four games. After OKC’s Danni König took a shot from near 12 yards out that LA keeper Clement Diop made a sliding block on, Toth grabbed the rebound near the penalty mark and chipped a shot over the Galaxy II keeper for a 1-0 Energy FC advantage in the 19th minute.

In the 35th minute, OKC extended its lead when Daniel Gonzalez moved the ball from the right side to the arc, where Dalgaard slid across and booted a turnaround shot that bent into the top-right area of the LA net, past a diving Diop.

Newton made saves on all three shots-on-goal he faced, including a diving stop on a one-on-one chance for LA’s Jack McBean from 15 yards out in the 17th minute.

The match marked the first time since June 5 that König did not tally a goal in a match Energy FC scored in. The OKC forward and USL co-leader in goals scored did register an assist in the match, giving him 20 points in OKC’s last 12 games.

Energy FC next travels to Portland, Ore., where they’ll face Portland Timbers 2 in a 9 p.m. CT start on Saturday, Aug. 8 at Merlo Field.

OKC’s next home match is Aug. 15, when they welcome Real Monarchs SLC in a 7 p.m. start at Taft Stadium.
