The Tulsa Police Department's special operations team, along with federal agents, converged on a local motel on Admiral Place Wednesday evening arresting at least two people and serving several search warrants.

Just after 8 p.m., police and FBI agents surrounded the Tonight Inn in the 8800 block of East Admiral Place.

Police said the arrests were the result a long-running joint investigation with the FBI into illegal activity at the motel. Officers and agents went from room to room at the motel and dozens of people were seen being taken out of those rooms in handcuffs.

Each room at the motel was basically a station, with some rooms being used for drug storage, drug sales and other rooms for prostitution, according to TPD.

"It's going to make a big dent in not only in drug activity, but violent crime activity as well," TPD Capt. Mark Wollmershauser said.

Wollmershauser said the owners of the Tonight Inn knew about the activity at the motel and are being questioned.

Police have not said how many people who were placed into custody have actually been arrested.

"This is by far the first warrant I've ever seen that is an all-sweeping, room-to-room, search warrant of an entire hotel," Wollmershauser said.
