A four-day initiative to prioritize the arrest and removal of convicted undocumented immigrants led to dozens arrest from Oklahoma City and Guymon.

The enforcement action, which began July 23, was conducted by local officers from U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Thirty fugitive or convicted criminal immigrants were arrested, 17 in Oklahoma City, and 13 in Guymon.

All of those arrested face a variety of charges that include, driving under the influence, domestic assault and battery, drugs and weapon possession.

Eleven individuals arrested fell under ICE’s priority 1 category which generally includes national security issues, felony or aggravated felony convictions.

“Our dedicated ICE officers play a significant role in helping make our communities safer by arresting convicted criminal aliens and removing them from the United States," said Simona L. Flores, field officer director for ERO Dallas. "By focusing our resources on the most egregious offenders, we ensure the very best use of our resources, while immediately improving public safety.”

In fiscal year 2014, the Dallas area of responsibility that includes the state of Oklahoma, removed 15,030 undocumented immigrants; over 12,700 had criminal convictions.
