Metro Woman Upset With Apartment After Going Without A/C For 19 Days

In this blistering heat a metro woman is begging for her apartment complex to fix her broken air conditioning unit. She tell us Wednesday marks the 19th day she's been without A/C.

Small fans inside Evelyn Timmon's apartment provide the only relief from the unbearable temperatures.

“It's making me more moody. The fact that I can't move around in my apartment freely, you just got to get in one spot and stay up under one fan,” said Timmons. “Even when I turn it on it doesn't get any cooler in here it just stays the same.”

For several weeks, Timmons says the maintenance man at the Madison Village apartments in southeast Oklahoma City has been unsuccessful when trying to fix the A/C unit.

“It is better to be outside. Anybody that comes to my apartment, I could bring people right now that would tell you it's better to be outside of her apartment than it is to be inside of her apartment,” she said. 

In the meantime, the complex did provide Timmons with a wall unit and an old fan, but she says it's not enough to cool her place off.

“I've spent all the money I could. I don't have any more money to go to a hotel. I stayed at a hotel for four nights already. I don't have any more money for that,” said Timmons.

She now spends most of her days and nights away from her home just to stay cool.

“I just want something better. I pay you on time. I’m never late. I pay you on time. I just want the services I pay for,” she said. 

And there might be relief coming for Timmons. The office manager tells News 9 a replacement A/C unit should be installed in the next two days.
