Upgrades will soon get underway for the Interstate 35 and Interstate 240 interchange and the project has some businesses concerned.

Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation told the Journal Record that a $110 million project to improve the Crossroads Junction, which is I-35 and I-240, will not be done without first asking for public feedback and that includes talking to local businesses.

Members of the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce reached out to ODOT's director Mike Patterson. They said they're disappointed in how well ODOT has communicated with area businesses on how the changes to the intersection will affect them.

But ODOT said it is aware that closing just one ramp will affect businesses in the area. The plan by ODOT is to improve the eastbound I-240 ramp to southbound I-35.

The entire intersection should be completed in phases by 2021. There are also plans to improve the service road near the Plaza Mayor Mall.

Right now ODOT is still collecting bids on the project.
