Police arrested a man and a woman after an 8-year-old girl was found locked inside a hot car in northwest Oklahoma City, Sunday afternoon.

According to police, just before 2 p.m., officers responded to the report of a child left unattended inside a locked car in the parking lot of CSL Plasma, located at 716 N.W. 23rd Street.  When officers arrived, the child had been rescued and was being treated by EMSA paramedics.

Police said the girl had a temperature of 101.6 and a heart rate of 160 BPM. She was suffering from a heat exhaustion, and authorities were concerned that she may have a heat stroke.

Officers went inside the Plasma Center to look for the girl’s parents. They spoke with the girl’s mother, 25-year-old Heather Norris, and her fiancé, 27-year-old Justin Ray Truitt. Norris reportedly told officers her friend was supposed to watch the child.

Both Norris and Truitt were arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of child neglect. They are being held on $10,000 bond each.

The child was transported to the Children’s Hospital.
