Firefighters from Oklahoma City and Edmond were called after two people nearly drowned in pools.

The first near-drowning was reported Sunday afternoon in the 6700 block of Acorn Drive in Edmond. A man was in the swimming pool and holding onto the side of the pool when he suddenly let go of the side, passed out and drifted into the pool, fire officials said.

The man's family was able to get him out of the pool and paramedics took him to a hospital.

The second incident happened about 2:40 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of NW 144 Street. A 3-year-old boy fell into a pool at a family gathering.

Family members were able to pull the boy out of the water. The boy was alert and breathing when first responders arrived and the boy was taken to a hospital to be treated, an Oklahoma City Fire Department spokesman said.
