OKC Dentist Accused Of Sending Lewd Photos To Employees

In commercials he calls himself the "Smile Maker". But Dr. Larry Baker, 57, is probably not smiling now that he is facing three felony counts.

Dr. Larry Baker is charged with two counts of distribution of obscene material and one count of making a harassing telephone call.

“When the charges are ugly, obviously we are going to pay more attention and do something about it - to try to protect the public,” said Susan Rogers, Executive Director for the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry.

Rogers said records show the Board suspended Baker's license back in 2004.This, after he was arrested in 2003 for drug possession with intent to distribute. Baker pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and received a deferred sentence. His license was reinstated in 2007.

Then in 2009, he was arrested for DUI and pleaded guilty to the charge. But nothing was done by the Board of Dentistry then, although Rogers said DUI convictions do affect dental licenses now.

The latest allegation against Baker involves a woman he hired to be his office manager at the Route 66 Dental Clinic. Court records show Edmond Police started investigating Baker back in April, after a former employee filed a report. She claims he sent her a photo of his driver's license right next to his private parts via text, and also made obscene calls to her 12-year-old daughter's cell phone.

Court papers claim the 12-year-old daughter began receiving numerous phone calls from a blocked number and that there would be either "heavy breathing or silence. A trace revealed the calls were "coming from Baker's home number".

Court papers state even after the office she quit, Baker continued to call and harass her and her family.

Court papers also revealed another employee told police that on several occasions Baker sent her photos of nude women in his bed that he claimed to have had sex with, and the routinely would send her messages threatening to fire her.

That employee said that this just became normal for him.

Despite the charges, the allegations, and the state investigation, Baker is still allowed to practice dentistry at his Route 66 Dental Clinic.

An arrest warrant has not yet been issued, but Baker's attorney said he plans to surrender him once it is.
