The Stephens County District Attorney said the investigation began nine months ago and all of the hard work led to Friday’s sweep. Forty-eight people were charged with drug-related crimes.
Friday morning marked the end of a lengthy investigation and the beginning of prosecution.
At least 30 people were arrested and 48 were charged for their involvement in the local drug problem.
“The number 48 in one county at one time is a big number,” Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks said.
It's a big number authorities hope sends a big message.
“Distribution of meth and trafficking of meth is not going to be tolerated,” Hicks added.
Among those targeted in the round-up face charges for supplying users with meth, pills or marijuana.

In Friday's sweep, authorities arrested Dee Burk on three counts of distributing a controlled and dangerous substance.
Bryan Edwards was placed behind bars for trafficking in illegal drugs and distribution.
And James Embree is accused of distribution near a park.
“We wanted to make sure that those responsible for spreading its use inside our community were the ones that were targeted,” Hicks explained.
To help target those in the community, Hicks said OBN, US Marshals, the DA's Drug Task Force, and other agencies worked together.
“Without all those other agencies, we couldn’t pull off an operation of this size and of this nature,” Hicks told News 9.
A total of 75 agents put dozens in handcuffs and a dent in the county's drug activity.
