Oklahoma City police identified the man shot and killed by officers Wednesday night as 26-year-old Andre Dontrell Williams, a convicted felon who was on probation for numerous criminal convictions.

Police began investigating Williams Wednesday, after they received a call about a rape victim being treated at OU Medical Center. When officers arrived, they said the victim claimed Williams had held her against her will, tied her up, and raped her repeatedly.

That victim told police the attack happened the night of July 21st, inside Williams’ home on NE 24th Street. Though she admits she knew Andre Williams and agreed to come over, police said she did not agree to have sex with him and was held against her will.

“The victim had injuries consistent with her story,” said Captain Paco Balderrama with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police said when officers arrived at the home where Williams lived to investigate the rape claim, a relative let them in. That's when officers found Williams inside, hiding under a bed with a knife.

“The officers at the scene ordered this person to drop the knife, also to come out from under the bed,” said Capt. Balerrama. “He began to come out from under the bed, but he never dropped the knife.”

According to police, Williams lunged at the officers, knocking one of them down. That's when officers shot and killed Williams.

“At some point a Taser was used on the suspect in an attempt to disarm him,” said Capt. Balderrama. “It did not work.”

News 9 checked on Williams' criminal past - which is extensive - and includes prior rape charges. Two of which were dismissed.

News 9 checked with the district attorney's office about why they were dropped and were told the first rape case involved a 14-year-old girl who said she met Williams on the internet, had consensual sex with him, and then got pregnant.

The case got dismissed due to Williams’ age. But, it was then refiled when Williams was back in trouble with the law. He ended up pleading guilty and received a five-year suspended sentence for that rape.

In the most recent rape case filed last year, the DA's office dropped the charges after the victim was caught lying on the stand.

Williams had just been released from prison a year ago, but was still on probation for numerous convictions.

The four officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates the incident further.
