Oklahoma defensive end/linebacker Eric Striker is an All-Star player with an All-World personality. There’s no better example of the charisma of the six-foot (maybe), 223 senior out of Seffner, Fla. than the attached one-on-one interview.

The charisma that flows from Striker is but one of the assets that has helped him become one of the strongest team voices and leaders on a 2015 OU club that is in dire need of said leadership -- not to mention the importance of his remarkable big-play ability.

Striker struck me as being unsure of how good this OU defense will be, while others praised his low-key assessment as a good sign. Many fans who were devastated when their Sooners went from a preseason favorite to make it into college football’s first playoff in 2014 into the most disappointing campaign in 16 seasons in the Stoops Era, like the fact that he didn’t automatically build up their hopes by making them out to be the 1970s Selmon version of an Oklahoma defense.

So, you be the judge on his ‘we can be good’ rather than ‘we can be great’ answer to my query about his defense. And appreciate the fact that OU – and college football overall – produces quality kids who work hard, succeed in the classroom, are comfortable in their own skin and are well on their way to becoming successful contributors to an American society that desperately needs more Eric Strikers.
