Choctaw Police: One Killed In Home Invasion Shooting
CHOCTAW, Oklahoma - One person was fatally shot Monday night in a home invasion shooting, Choctaw police said.
The shooting happened in the 1600 block of S. Choctaw Road near SE 15 Street in Choctaw.
An off-duty Midwest City police officer was watching a house for his in-laws who are on vacation and stopped by to check on the home, Choctaw police Chief Connie Clay said.
The off-duty officer said he saw the front door kicked open and the home ransacked. When the officer entered the home, he saw the burglar, Clay said.
The off-duty officer said the burglar appeared to be carrying a firearm and the officer shot the burglar, killing him, Clay said.
Choctaw police and Oklahoma County deputies are investigating the fatal shooting.
The officer's name has not been released.
