Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will slow and stop northbound and southbound Interstate 35 traffic Monday morning near Turner Falls, authorities reported Sunday.

The closure is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday so workers can conduct limited blast work associated with rock slide removal in the Arbuckle Mountains.

Traffic is expected to be stopped for about 20 minutes and lanes will reopen once the area is safe for drivers, the Oklahoma Transportation Department said.

Drivers wishing to avoid the I-35 corridor can use US-81 to the west through Duncan or US-69 to the east through Durant.

Northbound and southbound I-35 remains narrowed to one lane in each direction and speed limits are reduced to 50 mph through late August. Drivers can expect congestion and delays, especially during peak travel times like weekends and holidays. Additionally, I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction in Ardmore for ongoing bridge rehabilitation work.
