Authorities arrested an Ardmore man on child sex charges, but what they discovered during his arrest is far more disturbing.
Investigators with the Canadian County Sheriff Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit arrested 38-year-old Billy Hodges on Wednesday in what has become an all-too-common albeit successful undercover sting operation.
The investigation began in mid-May, when Hodges initiated contact with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl on a popular social media app. Hodges and the undercover officer maintained routine contact all the way up to his arrest on July 15, with several lewd conversations on various sex acts Hodges said he wanted to perform on the “girl”.
During his arrest, investigators say Hodges offered a full confession and even went so far as to allow investigators to perform a forensic examination of his cell phone. It was on the phone that investigators discovered another message thread in which Hodges and an unidentified individual discussed plans to abduct and rape a young girl in the woods.
Hodges was booked into the Canadian County Jail on two counts of Lewd Acts with a Child. Hid bond was set at $100,000.
Investigators are now looking into Hodges’ abduction plan, and hope to identify the person with whom he was communicating.
