Police said a man impersonated a police officer overnight and robbed a woman at a southeast Oklahoma City apartment.

It happened on the 4700 block of Sunnyview, near S.E. 44th and Sunnylane. Police said there's one official victim in this case, an older woman who lives in this apartment complex. She answered the door around midnight because she thought the person behind it was a police officer.

It turned out to be a man who was dressed in all black. Police said the man knew some of the language an officer might use to gain entry into a home. And when the victim followed his orders, he ended up robbing her.

It's unclear what he took or if he used a gun. Crime scene investigators spent several hours collecting evidence and you can only imagine how angry officers investigating this are.

“It is very frustrating. We ask you look for a badge or a uniform that you're familiar with. And if not call 911 ask the dispatcher is there an officer at my house or is there a law enforcement agency and they'll be able to tell you,” Lt. Gamille Hardin said.

The woman wasn't alone at the time. Someone else was home with her. Neither of them was hurt.

Impersonating a police officer carries a 2-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine.
