Kristen Adams was hospitalized for several days with the virus two summers ago.  She said high fever and severe headaches lingered for several days and weeks. It took over a year for her to recover.

“Protect yourself, protect your children, protect the seniors, spray yourself with Deet.  Take the right precautions.  If it can happen to me, it can happen to anybody,” she said Thursday from her father Scott Adams’ Law office.

City County Mosquito Prevention Director Waite Colbaugh said the most effective way to ward off mosquito bites is bug spray that contains Deet.  He said mosquitos are found mostly around standing water.
