Thunder Falls To Memphis In Summer League Action

Oklahoma City fell in Summer League action on Thursday, dropping an 87-81 decision to the Grizzlies.

While reports and offer sheet signing swirled around the organization on Thursday, it was business as usual for Oklahoma City at the Orlando Summer League.

The Thunder fell to Memphis, 87-81 in their final scheduled game of the league.

OKC wraps up its time in Orlando at 7 a.m. CST on Friday in the 5th/6th place game against the Clippers.

The Thunder was doomed by a big run from the Grizzlies to close out the first half. Down 36-30, Memphis finished the second quarter on a 19-4 run to lead, 49-40 going into halftime.

Oklahoma City rallied in the third quarter, tying the game at 55 on a Quinn Cook layup, but Memphis rallied with a 7-0 burst to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. The Thunder made a last-minute rally to close within four points in the final minute after trailing by as many 14 in the fourth quarter, but ran out of time.

Semaj Christon led the Thunder with 19 points while Mitch McGary added 16 points and seven rebounds, continuing his impressive play. Cook added 15 points.

Jarnell Stokes led Memphis with 18 points while Jordan Adams and Russ Smith each scored 17 points. Memphis went 30-of-33 from the free throw line, hitting their first 28 attempts.
