ALDRIDGE SIGNING MAKES SPURS FAVORITE IN WEST

The signing of free agent jewel LaMarcus Aldridge immediately saw the San Antonio Spurs jump the Thunder and NBA champion Golden State to become the 5-2 favorite to win the Western Conference. They also jumped to second favorite to win the NBA Title at 9-2 behind only the Cleveland Cavaliers at 3-1.

The West is seen by oddsmakers as a three-team race, with the Rockets significantly behind the Thunder as fourth favorite at 12-1 to OKC’s 19-5. And there’s a big drop in the title odds from fourth favorite OKC at 8-1 to Chicago at 20-1. Basically, the people who come up with these kinds of numbers for a living are saying Cleveland is close to a lock to represent the East in next year’s Finals and that their opponent will most likely be from the threesome of Spurs, Warriors and Thunder.
