A murder suspect implicates himself during a recorded phone call made from the Oklahoma County Jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators were screening 20-year-old Samuel Harman's calls when they heard a conversation with his girlfriend that was quite telling.

"That's what led us to start seeing the real truth as to what happened," Bethany Deputy Police Chief J.D. Reid said the call exposed a possible cover up to murder.

Harman is accused of barricading his disabled father, Marcus, inside the family's home near 36th and Mueller last month.

At some point during the incident, he allegedly kicked his father in the head causing him to die the next day.

During a police interview, Harman denied kicking his father but admitted he blocked his father in the home.

He was arrested on a complaint of first degree murder and booked in the Oklahoma County Jail.

Since the arrest, he and his girlfriend, Erin Downs, 20, have discussed the assault in more detail.

Harman allegedly said "I did not mean to he just jumped up, like my bad."

Investigators say Downs repeatedly told Harman to "stick to the story."

Downs’ call with Harman is the reason she's now an inmate herself.

That, and investigators say she also admitted to being in the home at the time of the crime but failed to call 911 when the victim cried for help.

"That in itself is a crime cause once you witness a crime and you fail to act when you are able to act, I mean you can be prosecuted for that," said Reid.

Downs turned herself into police early Thursday morning.

She was arrested on a complaint of accessory to murder.
