Fifty girls from five states, including Oklahoma, got the once in a lifetime chance to camp out on the White House lawn as part of first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move Outdoors" campaign.

Among them were several fourth graders from Oklahoma.

They took their tents to the home of the first family, and they spent the night on one of the nation’s most historic lawns.

Charlotte, Alyson, Aris, Kaetelyn and Daphnye had a night to remember.

Daphnye got an extra treat when the President sat down next to her on a hay bale there for the campout.

"I always wanted to meet our President,” she said. “And sitting by him I thought was pretty neat, because I wanted to meet him and sit down and talking a little."

The campout is an offshoot of Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" program and is designed to get young people to exercise more outdoors.

"She was really nice,” Daphnye said. “It kind of made me feel at home. She kind of made me feel like she was being a mom sort of."

The girls sang camping songs as the first couple listened. The Girl Scouts enjoyed camping in tents, the singing and other activities.

Meeting the leader of the free world was pretty cool, too, but…

"My favorite part of probably the whole trip was probably meeting the first dogs," Kaetelyn said.

Bo and Sunny, after all, are pretty famous pooches.

Rain and the possibility of lightning forced the girls inside a conference room in an office building next to the White House at one point.

“Meeting them was very special. They're really wonderful people."

And it turned out to be a wonderful opportunity and experience.

"They are some memories we'll cherish forever," Daphnye said.
