As we approach the hottest part of summer, EMSA paramedics in Oklahoma City, are reminding all of us to keep an eye out for children locked in hot cars.

EMSA said dispatchers received 31 calls about children left in hot cars last month alone and that number concerns them.

Most incidents were just accidents and the children are doing fine now. EMSA said a grandmother left several kids in her car when she went to tan.

Paramedics said on a hot day the temperature inside a car can heat up 20 degrees in as little as ten minutes. A person can then start to show signs of heat stroke when their internal temperature reaches 104 degrees.

Experts suggest you put your cell phone, purse, or one of your shoes in the backseat to remind you to get your children out before you lock the car.
