A gun was stolen from inside a metro home, and the suspect is caught on security video. However, that's just one thing in a scary chain of events for one metro neighborhood.

It happened in the 1300 block of NW 10 Street in Oklahoma City and involves a stolen gun and a homicide that happened right across the street. Neighbors question if the incidents are related, but police aren’t so sure.

“He’s scary, and now he has a loaded revolver,” John Gonzales said.

Police are looking for that man.

“You get a good look at not only him but some very distinctive tattoos he has on his arms,” Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Those images were captured by Gonzales' surveillance cameras. Whoever the man is, he broke into Gonzales’ house and now Gonzales' handgun is gone. It was stolen not long before Gonzales' neighbor was killed.

That neighbor was Derrick Runnels. He was shot several times and found dead in front his home, located across the street from Gonzales’ house.

Runnels was at Gonzales’ home earlier, offering to help him.

“He was supposed to be helping John move, and he was over here trying to get John to answer the door,” a neighbor said.

It wasn't long before crime scene tape went up around his house.

“They thought maybe that pistol was related to it,” Gonzales said.

News 9 contacted police, but they tell us as far as they know the two crimes are not related.

Either way, Gonzales packed the rest of his bags.

“I’m not ever going back there again,” Gonzales said.

If you recognize the man in the pictures, call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
