The Ten Commandments monument, privately funded and erected on the State Capitol grounds, must be taken down. That's the decision today from the state Supreme Court.

Supporters of the monument see this as the latest assault on our state's and country's religious heritage.

What the Oklahoma Court found is that the monument violates the "Oklahoma's" constitution ... specifically Section 2 article 5. I'll paraphrase the pertinent part: no public property shall ever be used for the support of any system of religion. I suspect that's how they applied it.

The attorney general argued, it's a historic monument ... there's truth there, too.

Clearly the Ten Commandments is integral to the Jewish and Christian faiths.

While personally, I don't think there can be too many copies of the Ten Commandments out there, objectively, I can see how the state Supreme Court landed on this decision.

I'm disappointed that it will have to be moved, but it seems to me this keeps random fringe groups from trying to mock the Ten Commandments by erecting monuments that 99 percent of us find offensive.

Remember, today's ruling applies to state property. You can put up your own monument on your own property. You can share the Ten Commandments, and better yet, live them all you want.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
