A state lawmaker wants to take another look at state regulations regarding storm shelters.

A lot of homeowners are really angry after their shelters started coming up out of the ground during heavy rains this spring. State Representative Claudia Griffith said it's time to put storm shelter regulations to the test.

Griffith told our partners at "The Journal Record" she wants to review FEMA standards, storm shelter permits, and inspections. It comes after several shelters floated out of the ground during the spring rain.

"The Journal Record" spoke to one installer who said he welcomes more inspections as long as they don't interfere with storm shelter installations.

As for Griffith, she's unsure if she will file any legislation if her study request is approved. She hopes the hearing gives officials a better understanding of how to educate people about responsible shelter construction.

The list of approved studies is expected to be released on July 10.
