A man was rescued by Tulsa firefighters on Wednesday afternoon after his kayak apparently tipped over in the Arkansas River near the pedestrian bridge.

Firefighters said once the man was in the water he was able to grab onto a pillar of the pedestrian bridge.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD flew overhead as the man held onto a buoy for about 15 minutes, fighting the current from sweeping him downstream while rescue workers made their way to him.

The strong current near the low-water dam caused a little trouble for firefighters, but the man was able to be pulled from the water safely.
