Emergency crews were called out to a pair of crashes on two of the metro's busiest thoroughfares, Wednesday evening.

Authorities had to shut down both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-44, at May Ave., due to a semi crash. Traffic in the area was temporarily rerouted due to the crash. Eastbound traffic was diverted at NW 39th St. Westbound traffic was diverted onto the Hefner Parkway.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) troopers also called for a hazmat crew at the scene. It is unclear how many other vehicles, if any, are involved in this crash. That scene was cleared around 9:30 p.m.

Police were also called out to the scene of a crash on southbound I-235 at I-44 just before 8 p.m. Traffic was at a near-standstill while crews worked to the clear the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in that area. Details on the crash have not been released. Traffic was back up and moving in the area at approximately 9:08 p.m.
