The remnants of Tropical Storm Bill, now a tropical depression, are slowing plodding its way across Oklahoma. And in southern Oklahoma, heavy stationary rains are causing some major flooding.

In Ardmore, so far as much as five inches of rain has fallen and maybe even more in some localized areas. As of 6 p.m. there have been reports of several vehicles stranded in flood waters and even some water rescues, including one on Hickory Creek involving a 2-year-old child. Few details are known about how the child ended up in the creek. Unfortunately, due to the conditions, rescuers have suspended their search until 7 a.m. Thursday.

Several concerned Oklahomans who have asked about their children at Falls Creek. A spokesperson for the camp sent News 9 the following statement concerning their weather preparedness:

"Falls Creek Conference Center staff is weather aware and weather prepared. While the heavy rain has affected some of the outdoor activities, the programming for campers continues in positive ways. We are asking that any travelers to Falls Creek use Highway 77D (high road) as the entry point."

The Pauls Valley Police Department sent out a message on Twitter, discouraging residents from traveling at this time. Pauls Valley Police say several area streets and roads are flooded and driving conditions are extremely dangerous.

A spokesperson for the Boy Scout camp in Tishomingo, Okla. issued the following statement concerning flooding in the area:

“We have over 600 campers this week at Kerr Scout Ranch at Slippery Falls, and they are all enjoying a great week of summer camp. Most activities have continued as planned. Safety of our campers is always our first concern, but there is no need to take extreme measures such as evacuating camp for this weather event.

We are in contact with parents via email, phone, and social media to assure them that the youth involved in this character-building experience may be wet, but they are safe, they are having great fun and will have better stories to tell about their summer than most of their friends.”

Details about flooding and weather updates continue to roll in as Bill moves through the area. Emergency personnel stress that residents stay home if possible and avoid driving through high water.
