For the second straight night, the weather prevented the Oklahoma City Dodgers and Colorado Springs Sky Sox from playing nine innings. This time, however, the Sky Sox were the ones who prevailed in the shortened game, as they defeated the Dodgers, 2-1, Tuesday night in a contest stopped in the sixth inning due to unplayable field conditions at Security Service Field.

In the middle of the sixth inning with the Sky Sox leading, 2-1, the game entered a rain delay for the second straight night. A little over an hour later, the grounds crew had removed the tarp and the teams returned to the field, seemingly ready to resume play. After further examination, it was determined some areas of the field were unplayable, forcing the game to be called.

The wet grounds not only resulted in a loss for the Dodgers (42-22), but it also signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Just like they did the night before, the Sky Sox (26-37) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. With a runner at third and one out, Yadiel Rivera worked a 13-pitch at-bat, resulting in a RBI single to give Colorado Springs a 1-0 lead.

The Sky Sox had a chance to add to their lead in the third inning, loading the bases with one out. Dodgers pitcher Steve Smith induced a double play on the first pitch to Nevin Ashley, keeping Oklahoma City within one run.

It would end up being a key play, as the Dodgers tied the game when they came up in the top of the fourth. Andy Wilkins collected a RBI single with two outs to even things up at 1-1. It was Wilkins' 10th RBI over his last eight games.

The Sky Sox regained the lead in the bottom of the inning. Logan Schafer led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a lineout by Rivera. Schafer then scored on a sacrifice fly by Pete Orr to push the Sky Sox ahead, 2-1.

Darnell Sweeney led off the sixth inning with a double, but he would not advance past second base, keeping the Dodgers down by a run.

Nick Additon picked up the win for the Sky Sox, allowing one run and three hits over 5.0 innings. Additon (2-2) finished with three strikeouts and one walk.

Smith left the game after three innings. Dodgers reliever Matt West (0-1) ended up with the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run in the fourth inning.

Sky Sox reliever Michael Kirkman was ultimately credited with his first save of the season after working a scoreless sixth inning.

The Dodgers finish their brief three-game series with the Sky Sox in a rubber match Wednesday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Central time.
