OSBI Investigates After Charred Body Found Under Bridge Near Ada

Authorities are investigating after a charred body was found under a bridge near Ada, Oklahoma, Friday morning.

According to the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Office, a charred body of a male was found under Sandy Creek Bridge on Sandy Creek Drive just west of Ada.

The Ada News reported that a woman and her husband were driving by just before 6 a.m. when they noticed smoke coming from beneath Sandy Creek Bridge.

The woman's husband went down the embankment and saw a grass fire. The couple then called 911. Firefighters responded to the scene and discovered the charred body on the grass underneath the bridge.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation. The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's office, and the ME will identify the body.
