Over the weekend, a metro man tried to do the same thing in OKC, but actually got inside the home.

A couple in northwest Oklahoma City said they dropped by their home Saturday afternoon to pick up a package, but when they got inside, they found a 72-year-old man sleeping on their couch after they said he sneaked in through their doggy door.

It's a place designed for dogs to go through like 11-year-old Schnauzer Kiki. That's what David Ryan thought before he and his wife came home, and he heard his wife scream. There was a stranger sleeping in the living room.

"My wife comes around the corner, and he's asleep on the couch covered up in a blanket," Ryan said.

Ryan said the only way the man could've come in was through their tiny entrance of their doggy door.

David found 72-year-old Jay Lile bleeding on their couch alongside their dog.

"We called 911 because I helped him out of our house and was like 'What are you doing here? This is our house.' We thought this was somebody that someone knew or that our landlord's knew, but nope."

Ryan said Lile moved their trashcans, opened their back gate and squeezed his small frame into their home through the dog door with a cane.

“Not many people can fit through that door, but he did, he was just kind of in and out, he seemed disoriented...so we figured he must have had Alzheimer's," Ryan said.

Even stranger, David said Lile picked up their FedEx package and sat it on their table. He didn't steal a thing except for the couple's peace of mind.

“We close it at night now, and we have security now, no more slipping in our back door."

The couple did not press charges, they actually sat the man inside their car with the A.C. until police came.

Lile was arrested and booked in the Oklahoma County Jail for previous warrants.
