OKLAHOMA CITY -

A metro mother was gunned down at an apartment complex.

Witnesses said 26-year-old Ranika Lindsey was caught in the crossfire of a fight she had nothing to do with in northwest Oklahoma City Sunday night.

Oklahoma City Police are looking for the suspects and her family is demanding justice.

“She was sweet, she cared about everybody, she loved her child, she just, she was an innocent person,” said Lindsey's friend, Keyera McMullen.

McMullen said Lindsey was like a sister to her.

“I was with her every day. There was never a moment we weren't together. She didn't do no harm to nobody. She was cool with everybody and it just shouldn't have been her,” McMullen explained.

McMullen and Lindsey were sitting outside at the Hefner Hollow Apartments when McMullen said two groups started shooting at each other Sunday night.

“We were just sitting outside, just with each other, and then they just walked past shooting and then it happened to hit her,” McMullen told News 9. “They were just shooting from both directions."

McMullen ran for cover, but she said Lindsey got caught in the crossfire.

“They wouldn't let me walk this way so I knew something had happened and then I saw her laying there and then I just lost it,” McMullen said.

Lindsey died at the hospital. She leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter named Sa'niya.

Friends and family told News 9 all Lindsey did was work, come home and take care of her child.

“I just hope whoever knows something would just speak up because this is an innocent person and she does have a child who is going to grow up without her mother and I just feel like she needs justice,” McMullen pleaded.

McMullen said she did not know the people shooting at each other on Sunday night and police have not made any arrests. This is Oklahoma City's 29th homicide this year.

If you know anything about this deadly shooting, call crime stoppers at (405) 235-7300 or the homicide tip line at (405) 297-1200.

If you would like to help the family, a funeral fund has been set up for Lindsey.
