EMSA issued the first Heat Alert of the Summer, Friday night.
By 6:45 p.m. Friday, six patients collapsed from the temperatures and high humidity in a span of three hours.
Four patients who were suffering heat illnesses are in their early to mid 60's. EMSA paramedics transported all six patients to local emergency rooms in good condition.
EMSA also says there were 29 kids left in cars in the month of May, not all were on hot days but with temperatures on the rise this can become deadly.
A “Heat Alert” is issued when five patients call 911 complaining of heat related illnesses. The Heat Alert will remain in effect until temperatures drop significantly and EMSA has a day with less than five heat related calls.
