CHICKASHA, Oklahoma -

A would-be robber is in the "dog house" after an elderly woman caught him in the act.

Louise Brown, 83, says the man was climbing through her dog door when she called police for help.

"He was out there on that porch and I looked through my kitchen window and could see him there" Brown said.

She watched Thompson put one arm through the dog door and attempt to find the lock on the inside of the door.

"I don't know why he thinks a man can get through that little hole," Brown said.

The door was made for a small dog which prevented Thompson from climbing all the way through the hole.

He did, however, drop a pill bottle with his name on while trying to get in.

Officers found the pill bottle and then later discovered Thompson in Brown's backyard.

Police said he denied trying to break into the home and instead claimed he was there only to pay rent and store some of his silver dinnerware.

Thompson was arrested for attempted burglary and booked into the Grady County Jail.

"I couldn't have planned it all better," Brown said. She was glad to be home at the time of the break-in to catch Thompson in the act. " I think it was just God intervening for me so I didn't have to go through a bunch of crud."
