Tenants at Summit Ridge Apartments in Oklahoma City said they're dealing with slumlords.

Shawna Jackson won a court judgment against Summit Ridge in April after she refused to pay her rent. She said mold permeates her apartment and makes her sick. She has refused to move into another unit, because she said it's full of mold as well.

Donnika Livingston lives in another unit nearby. She showed us a mold issue in one of her closets as well. Livingtson also said she used to be an assistant manager at Summit Ridge. She said she was fired in January, after she complained about the mold. “The owners are slumlords. They only fix what is necessary to be fixed, if they are hammered in the media or the court system,” she said.

News 9 tried to talk to a woman who said she was Summit Ridge's property manager.

Even though it was only four in the afternoon Tuesday and the sign on the front of the office door said the office was open, she refused to open the door and talk to News 9. But she did threaten to call the police if we didn't leave.

As we were leaving the property Tuesday, another woman drove up in an SUV. She said she had lived at Summit Ridge for two years. She said her air conditioning doesn't work, and her apartment is full of gnats. “I mean it's just been a problem since we moved in here,” she said.

Any other Summit Ridge tenant who is having mold or air conditioning problems can call the Oklahoma City Action Center at (405)-297-2535 or email the Action Center at action.center@okc.gov to file a formal complaint.
