Photographer Jaclyn Davis, based in southwest Oklahoma City, knows firsthand the emotions of becoming a parent, especially when becoming one was not easy.

Davis and her husband turned to the help of a surrogate after no other options were available. The couple are parents to a now 1-year-old boy.

“I know that feeling that they're going through right now. I know that excitement. But I don't know the part of the sorry that they're going through either.”

What she's referring to is Shay and Grant Offenberger's loss of a baby girl born at just 22 weeks. Baby Kynsleigh did not survive, but her brother Carter did. The couple spent nearly $40,000 on fertility treatments and eventually invitrofertilization resulted in twins.

“If she tried to stay in it could have harmed them both. So I really think her coming saved his life,” said Shay. “I hope he grows up and knows the sacrifice she made for him.”

Davis is offering free newborn photography to the Offenbergers and to other couples who are struggling with fertility. It is a service which normally costs about $500.

“We are so grateful for what she's doing for us,” Grant added.
