The City of Edmond canceled its planned installation of a new public art piece named “Touch the Clouds” that was originally scheduled for 6 a.m. on Sunday.

City officials said the installation of “Touch the Clouds” will take place on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma on Second Street, just west of Garland Godfrey Drive. Second Street lanes will be open Sunday.

Citizens interested in watching the work may park at Fink Park across the street from the final location of the artwork, when it is eventually installed.

The Edmond City Council approved the purchase of the statue by renowned artist David McGary from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2014 for $50,000 of discretionary Council funds. The final cost for moving, installation and restoration of the 16-year-old piece has yet to be finalized.

City officials said in a Twitter post they would advise of a new installation date in the near future.
