Tornado Warning Issued For Parts Of Oklahoma

Showers and thunderstorms will roll through central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon with some hail and wind.  A few of these storms will be severe.

Showers and thunderstorms will roll through central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon with some hail and wind.  A few of these storms will be severe. 

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern McClain County in central Oklahoma, west central Pottawatomie County in central Oklahoma, and southeastern Cleveland County in central Oklahoma until 3:30 p.m.

The NWS also issued Tornado Warnings for Tillman and Cotton Counties until 4 p.m.

At 2:51 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located five miles southwest of Purcell, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Locations impacted include, southeastern Norman, Purcell, Noble, Slaughterville, Lexington and Etowah.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for southwest and parts of central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon. The Oklahoma City metro area is not included as of 2 p.m.

Later this afternoon and this evening, more showers and storms will develop in southwestern Oklahoma along the advancing warm front where the possibility of a tornado exists. Other threats will be golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

Later tonight, the warm front will start moving southeast back through the state as a cold front and more showers and storms will develop and move back through central and southern Oklahoma. 

Flash flooding will be a high threat through Wednesday morning.
