Luck Will Decide Election In Jet

Luck will break a tie in an Alfalfa County election.

Just about the entire town of Jet – 223 voters – turned out for Tuesday's Board of Trustees race. Voters were asked to choose three trustees from a field of six.

The two top vote-getters Deana Miller (53 votes) and Rene Christine (47 votes) were elected, according to unofficial results. But a tie is holding up who will fill the third seat.

Stephanie Carson and Rory Lovely each received 38 votes in Tuesday's election.

To break the tie, the Alfalfa County Election Board will select the winner by lot, or drawing, at a future public meeting. The date will be set in the next few days.

Election results must still be certified to confirm the tie.
