An Oklahoma City couple, arrested for DUI and marijuana possession, is also facing charges of child endangerment after police found their 4-year-old son in their vehicle.

According to police, at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, an officer pulled over a car with an expired license plate at N.W. 23rd and the northbound Broadway Extension on-ramp.

The officer said he spoke with the driver, 32-year-old Antwon Barnett, and detected a strong odor of marijuana. He said Barnett appeared lethargic and had bloodshot eyes. Barnett's driver's license was also suspended.

According to police, Barnett admitted to smoking marijuana 30 to 45 minutes before he spoke with the officer.

Police said a passenger in Barnett's car, 31-year-old Wylanda Simms, admitted that there was marijuana under her seat in the vehicle. The officer said he located the marijuana and took both Barnett and Simms into custody.

According to police, the suspects' 4-year-old son was in the back seat. He was not in a required child safety seat, and was sitting behind the driver with only a standard seat belt.

Both suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of child endangerment and possession of marijuana. Police said Barnett also faces charges of DUI-drugs, driving under revocation, child restraint violation and illegal tag display.
