Live power lines were down in a Norman city street. The poles blocked entire streets and the wires dangled everywhere like electric tentacles Friday.

A fire truck was on its way to an alarm, when one of those live lines fell on top of it, keeping crews from calls and barricading people inside their neighborhoods.

The area of 48th Ave NW from Robinson to Rock Creek is still blocked by downed power lines and poles. Some of these power lines may have sporadic live power causing the area to be extremely dangerous.

Officials have shut down access to the area for the safety and to allow utility crews to repair and restore power as quickly as possible.

The Norman Police Department asks resident to stay away from the area.

The wind also blew out windows in the Cleveland County YMCA, just missing a group of children.
