Two men are accused of huffing compressed air while behind the wheel. Both were caught in Chickasha. It's a crime investigators say is on the rise. These two cases end up playing out on camera.

One incident happened at an elementary school and caused an accident, and another happened while a man was getting high and driving down the road.

It may be raining, but what was going on in the school pick up line was pretty obvious. Chickasha Police got several calls after witnesses say there was a man huffing air duster inside his car while in line to pick up a child at Bill Wallace Elementary School. He rear ended the car in front of him.

“We got a call that you were huffing air duster and ran into a vehicle. Is that accurate,” the officers says in dash cam video.

“I guess so,” the suspect said. “Yeah.”

The man insisted and pleaded that he needed to pick up his little sister.

“You're not picking anybody up,” the officer said. “You've been huffing air duster. You can't drive.”

Not only did officers find a bottle of air duster in the backseat, they found two boxes of cough syrup shoved down the front of his pants.

He was arrested and taken to jail

“Over the last 10 to 15 years we've seen a steady increase in the number of reports of people getting high huffing products that can commonly be found at retails stores,” Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics spokesperson Mark Woodward said.

The increase he says is a result of two reasons including availability, and it's easy to go online and find what to use to get high and how to do it.

“If they're behind the wheel of a vehicle it can be very devastating for them and other motorists on the road,” Woodward said.

Just days after making the arrest at the elementary school, police spot another driver swerving all over the road. They stop him and find out he's not under the influence of street drugs but something else.

“You're going to find marijuana in my blood, but I don't smoke marijuana during the week,” she suspect said.

He was huffing air duster while driving.

“What got you started on it,” the officer said.

“I googled it this morning,” the suspect said. “They said it only lasted like 30 seconds. Like a dumb*** I did it while driving down the freakin' road.”

Both men were taken into custody and are facing several charges.
