A Lexington, Oklahoma, man was killed after authorities said he crawled out of a moving pickup truck, climbed onto its hood and then fell off the vehicle.

According to the Cleveland County Sheriff's office, it happened at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 12300 block of Slaughterville Road.

Authorities said the collision investigation is in its early stages. Investigators have learned that Sydney Houck, 18, was the driver of a Chevrolet pickup with one passenger, Abraham Martin Alvarez, 25.

Houck told deputies that he and Alvarez were leaving a game reserve when Alvarez became combative and refused to stay in the vehicle. Houck said Alvarez attempted to crawl out of the truck while it was in motion. Alvarez also punched the front windshield, causing it to crack.

According to the Sheriff's office, Alvarez eventually crawled out of the passenger side window and into the pickup bed. As Houck was driving westbound on Slaughterville Road, Alvarez climbed over the roof and onto the hood.

Houck said when he slowed the vehicle to turn into a private driveway, Alvarez slid off the hood and in front of the truck. Houck reported he felt two bumps and hit the brake, causing the vehicle to skid.

Civilians attempted to render first aid to Alvarez. Emergency responders arrived a short time later and pronounced Alvarez dead at the scene.

Houck told deputies that Alvarez had consumed alcohol earlier in the day. The investigation into the wreck is on-going.
